38 Weeks

So, I have been having a few contractions lately but nothing huge.
Me-I hate pain.
Hate it! Hate it! Hate it!
Anyways, I woke up his morning very stiff and in a lot of pain. So, I called the doctor's office and told them of the "wonderful" weekend I had, and they told me to come in as soon as possible.
I love those words! Something about urgency and relieving pain is music to my ears.
Well, obviously, there aren't any baby pictures to post, so no Abbie yet. However, I am "softening" and unless my water breaks or contractions become closer together, Abbie will be coming on July 5th.

Update-13 Days not 2 Days!

Clara has woken up every morning these last couple of days and asked how many more days until "Abbie" comes out. I apparently disappoint her every time when I give her the answer. "You said it was 2 days."
"Nope, honey. It's 2 weeks."
"But you said it was 2 days!"
"I am sorry, but it it 2 weeks. Let's count on the calendar . . . 13 days, see?"
"That's not 2 days, mom."
And so the conversation goes on until I can distract her with something else. Trust me child, if there was a way that I could have this huge (whatever is bigger than a watermelon) thing in 2 days, I would do it.
But until then, it is still 13 days.

Clara Finished Kindergarten!

She has finished Kindergarten. My baby girl is now a 1st grader. Can you believe it? Neither can her mom and dad.
Yesterday, we had a little "party" in honor of Father's Day, my parent's anniversary, and Clara's graduation. It was a crazy day, but lots of fun! I gave Clara a diploma from "Pratt Academy"--our official home school name. She also earned her "I know my short vowel sounds!" certificate. Then, we gave her a little present. What little girl doesn't love a mirror-brush?!Her spoils! She was so excited to get something out of the year besides an education.Dale and I look forward to the Fall when she starts a rigorous schedule of even more challenging subjects. We are so proud of her!

3 Weeks to Go!

So, here we are. 3 weeks to go. Dale kept saying, "Only 3 weeks left" repeatedly yesterday, as if to make me anymore nervous. I think she has dropped too. I have been feeling more pressure in the lower regions, and have been having a few more contractions. Apparently, this dress makes me look really pregnant, so I thought it would be appropriate.

Sewing Projects - 1 Month Later

There is nothing more gratifying than to see a finished project!
I decided to get up early this morning and start (and finish) my kitchen curtains. I call them my anniversary present to myself. I LOVE how they turned out!
I found this fabric like a month ago at JoAnns and originally made a nursing cape out of it for my sister-in-law. The more I worked with it, the more I wanted it for my curtains in my kitchen. Here they are! They just add a little something to my kitchen/dining room.

The projects that I have left to finish up before the baby comes:
Clara's dress, A special birthday present for Nathan (my nephew's 1st birthday), and a graduation gift for one of my dad's friends (a Spider Man tie).
It doesn't seem like a whole lot, but it will keep me busy in the coming weeks, and with this "summer cold", we'll see how well I can get going.

Oh, The Things You Collect!

So, my projects lately have been very much baby oriented or at least getting ready for baby. While I have been collecting "piles" of things, I have time to sit and look online for ideas of what I can make on my own. I recently bought a "Boppy" at a second-hand store. These things are very expensive brand new, so a used one will have to do. Of course you get what you pay for, and this one had an extremely ugly cover on it. I will spare you the ugliness. So, I decided to spend money on a "new" cover. $30 later and I realized it wasn't even cute--it was just the less expensive cover. I returned it after realizing I had TONS of fabric leftover from a "project" that I never even started (maternity tops for when I was pregnant with Clara, who is almost 6 now).
My finishing project:Isn't it cute! And it is so soft and stretchy! It would have been a lovely maternity top. James loves it too!
He wouldn't let me get a picture of it without him.
I, also, had a great find at our local Goodwill. I found an adorable Winnie the Pooh crib set (quilt, bumpers, and fitted sheet) for $11. I was so excited! It is like-new! As a lover of etsy.com, I found a really cute blanket with adorable Scottie dogs in it. I really didn't want to pay the $28 (+ shipping) for it, so I looked all over JoAnn's fabric. It took several trips, but they had it! I copied the etsy shop's idea and ta-da! I LOVE the turquoise satin! I am also really liking Scottie dog prints and stuffed animals right now. Anyone have a cute stuffed Scottie dog template I could have?
