June 29, 2010 Garden Update

The Tomatoes have officially grown taller than Dale. Can you believe it?!Our Bell Peppers aer doing much better now that they are in the ground.Grapes, Green Beans and Cantaloupe are doing great.Yellow Squash is big and hearty! This is one Tomato plant. It looks like this on all our Tomato plants. Here are 2 Squash. Some of our vegetables have funny characteristics. This one has a "nose".We've had lots of fun harvesting!

Family Reunion

We had such beautiful weather for my family reunion. We visited with Aunt Bobbie (my dad's aunt). Her garden is always blooming!Lovely!Bright Colors!Nice!
Nice and Bright! Her house is always so cozy! She is a wonderful hostess, always finding something for the weary traveling to snack on.Clara had a lot of fun with her "2nd cousins" Kiere and Nadia. James had fun with the sand!
Here is a picture of the last of the "great aunts". I love this because the Estes women are known for being talkers. Here they are doing what they do best!
In front, in the white is Aunt Dorothy Munson (she has Leukemia), and next to her is Aunt Marj Culp (the oldest, who lives in California). Second row on left is Aunt Betty Brinkman (her husband has early stages of memory loss), the old guy in the middle is their cousin--can't remember his name., and then there is Grandma Barbara--now the baby of the family. The other guy in there is my dad's cousin who lives in Colorado-last name Culp.Clara was fortunate this trip to inherit a few of Aunt Betty's daughter's dresses. She also received a baby cradle and a tea set that belonged to Aunt Betty when she was younger. Clara was really grateful, and has been very gentle with all of it!We had a great time!

Father's Day

We celebrated Father's Day the night before the actual day. James was tired, so he went to bed. However, Clara and I couldn't wait to give daddy his gifts!
Clara had just finished up signing the card and was tucking it in it's envelope.Daddy loved the card from all of us!This was from James! A sign for daddy's garage! The new Truman G. Madsen movie from mommy!
He still hasn't watched it. What a bum!!And a Mighty Mouse T-shirt from Clara. Daddy is Clara's super hero!
We love daddy so much and he knows it too!

Another Harvest!

Here are the infamous carrots I thought were Bell Peppers. They didn't get really big because I picked them to early-obviously.Here are my amazing cucumbers! Here is what we got that day. Clara really enjoyed the tomato.

June 6, 2010 "Dad's Birthday!"

I have been a bit busy lately. So, now I am playing catch up.
We celebrated Dad's Birthday with a big chocolate cake and ice cream. I actually had run out of chocolate frosting. Thus, I pulled my Better Homes and Garden Cookbook out and found a delicious recipe for frosting. Everyone loved it!Yep, still not sure as to how old my dad really is. I know he's fifty-something. The question mark doesn't help.James loves Chocolate! Here's the group-minus Dale who took the picture. Happy Birthday, Dad!
