January 2, 2012 - A Trip to Nebraska

Have you ever seen that rusty old train that sits on the west side of Highway 35, near Nebraska? We've driven by it so many times on our way up to Nebraska, that its kind of a land mark for us. (There's also a huge Chimney sweep guy near Salina, KS.) Anway, we decided to jump out of the car and take a walk up to the train.
Boy was it Huge! All Aboard!Clara was so tiny compared to the wheels.James loved it! What little boy wouldn't?!Even big boys thought it was awesome!Once we made it into Nebraska, we made a pit stop at Aunt Bobbie's house.
These next set of pictures are of her home decor. I wanted to take as many as I can to capture my memories. At the front entrance, you are welcomed by a sweet table with little treasures.
The first room on your left is her sitting room. It is very peaceful.
I love these chairs and mismatched furniture.Adjoined to the sitting room is her formal dining room. As a child I remember eating in here once, when my dad and I came to visit.
This is her eat-in nook.
I love the shutters. Finally, my favorite, the casual living room. The smells, the lighting, everything about this room is so cozy! She is a sweet woman! My kids just loved her!

January 1, 2012- Homemade Ice Cream

So, it's been awhile. We've actually been pretty busy with family events that I've had a hard time keeping up. Not to worry, we've taken a ton of pictures and hopefully, we can get caught up again.
For Christmas, Santa gave our family a Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker. So, I decided to whip up a batch after church, and since our meetings are at 8:30 am, I do not mind the mess. Especially if it is only James who gets messy.
