James Loves Food!

There is no doubt about it! James loves food!I made some pasta for dinner, and he started to put the shell pasta on his finger one at a time into his mouth. It was a very funny, but creative way to eat pasta!

Just Another Day in Paradise!

We were all just hanging out, watching a movie. Everyone was so tired.
James was too cute just sitting on the floor.Clara was playing on the floor with her puppies.I think the heat got to Dale. She's too cute!I have such a cute Family!

May 24, 2010 Garden Update!

Another week has gone by, and another major difference. We have had a ton of rain, which has made everything gloomy. But our garden has reaped the benefits. Our tomatoes are really tall. We added taller, bigger cages a while back, and now, they have almost outgrown them. Our green beans, peppers, and melon are big too.Our Bell Peppers.
The feathery green one is a bell pepper that I planted by seed. We still don't know exactly if it will grow any peppers or not. Looks great as a "filler" though. Our Cantaloupe Melon.
There are a ton of blossoms underneath those big leaves. These BIG blossoms are our Zucchini. I almost pulled an ugly, wilted blossom off a couple of days before. It's a good thing I didn't. Meet the ugly blossom- a zucchini! Here's another one!
My Cucumber is growing!
And there are lots of tiny cucumbers growing on it too. This weekend, we are going to make something for these to vine up on.This is the back part of the backyard--future site for our garden next year. My grandma said this would be the perfect spot for a bigger garden because it gets the afternoon sun and the neighborhood kids don't play back here. Our poor dogs are going to have to find another place to do their business.Just a view of our backyard from the back fence line. It looks really huge but it's not that big.A view of our garden.
Good times!

Ideal Garden -- Or At Least I Think So

This is just a few pictures of a friend's garden. They have been doing this for several years. I wanted to take pictures of the really cool raised gardens that they had. This is a really neat idea-adding the end piece here-it's on both sides.3-Layers/TiersStrawberry Patch idea-also 3 tiers, and covered by a mesh net to protect from birds.
Climbing areas for climbing plants. This is what it looks like with the climbing plants.Overview of the garden. I love the stone path and the cedar chips.
Her climbing peas that she planted March 13th.Her grapevine idea. We are going to use this idea for our new addition grapes. The water system-emergency quick release hose pipe.More of the peas. We were told that peas were a waste of an idea, so we didn't include them in our final stages of our garden. However, looking at this, I'm thinking we will definitely be growing them next year.Clara really enjoyed them!Look how nice and big they look!We are really excited for next year's planting season! It may not be this big but we plan to get this big eventually! hope this was helpful in giving you any ideas!

Elizabeth's Baby Shower

I had forgotten my camera for Elizabeth's Baby Shower that my mom, Sara Laughlin, and I had planned. These pictures are courtesy of Elizabeth's camera.
We had a good turn out. Elizabeth's sister Jamie came down from Nebraska. Grandma Barbara came down for the week to visit and was here for the shower too.
We played a couple of games: the clothespin "Baby" game and the string around the belly game. Clara won the ribbon game. She came just a half inch short. What can I say she's good! She won a purple bouncy ball!
Clara is showing off her sticky, waxy sticks that she got a restaurant. Weird invention, but really fun for kids.
We had 3 different kinds of muffins: Blueberry, Lemon Poppy seed, and Chocolate Chip. We also served a frozen fruit slush and juice.
James really liked the Chocolate Chip Muffins!

May 14, 2010 Garden Update!

Um, yea! A week since we've took pictures of the garden. What a difference! Our 16 tomato plants are really big!Look! Grape Tomatoes!I can't even believe it! It's just amazing! How did that happen?! We have beans! And these little guys, they are really tall!My Cucumber! It's not dead! Our Zucchini is big and leafy!
It's really awesome to see the transition of our little garden!

Our First Harvest!!

Strawberries! Clara kept asking us when they would be ready. We kept telling her when they are big and red. She came in saying, "They're red and big now!" Nope, honey, not yet. Finally, daddy went outside to see and sure enough, she was right! It was only proper to give her the first one. She said it was really yummy and wanted more. Too bad only one was ready. Later in the week, after Clara had her fill, Dale gave a few away to the neighbors. Stop giving them away! I haven't even had one yet. They can grow their own! Spinach was ready too. He didn't giving any of that away.

May 5, 2010

This our garden at the beginning of May. Things are starting to get a little bigger. The light green plant that is overpowering my Marigolds is our Lettuce, and as you can see, our spinach is growing too.The Pole Beans, Melon and Bell Peppers aren't doing too bad either. Just not real big yet.James has figured out how to climb to the top of the slide but not figured out how to slide down yet. It is only a matter of time I suppose. He really wanted Clara's Popsicle! He figured he'd try and climb up the slide. He is so silly! The best thing about spring/summer-Popsicles!
