January 2, 2012 - A Trip to Nebraska

Have you ever seen that rusty old train that sits on the west side of Highway 35, near Nebraska? We've driven by it so many times on our way up to Nebraska, that its kind of a land mark for us. (There's also a huge Chimney sweep guy near Salina, KS.) Anway, we decided to jump out of the car and take a walk up to the train.
Boy was it Huge! All Aboard!Clara was so tiny compared to the wheels.James loved it! What little boy wouldn't?!Even big boys thought it was awesome!Once we made it into Nebraska, we made a pit stop at Aunt Bobbie's house.
These next set of pictures are of her home decor. I wanted to take as many as I can to capture my memories. At the front entrance, you are welcomed by a sweet table with little treasures.
The first room on your left is her sitting room. It is very peaceful.
I love these chairs and mismatched furniture.Adjoined to the sitting room is her formal dining room. As a child I remember eating in here once, when my dad and I came to visit.
This is her eat-in nook.
I love the shutters. Finally, my favorite, the casual living room. The smells, the lighting, everything about this room is so cozy! She is a sweet woman! My kids just loved her!

December 17, 2011 - Trip to Kansas City

So, long story short, we went up to Kansas City to see some historical church sites. These gravestones were located at the new 8 Witnesses Monument. They are obviously really old.
If you can read any of it, you are pretty good. What's amazing to me is that someone carved these with their own hands and tools. The writing is absolutely lovely.
Here is part of the Eight Witnesses monument.
This is such a sight to see!
Here are the grounds with the gravestones.Such a sacred and beautiful place. Then, it was off to another site: the new temple site.Loved this! For all those who worked on the temple, there is a code of conduct. It is kind of funny, but also amazing that there is still a reverence maintained when the Lord's temples are built upon this Earth.Heaven on Earth!Isn't this amazing?!We can't wait until the open house! What is a trip to Kansas City without going to Union Station. During this holiday season, they had their special train outside, all decorated in holiday lights.Inside the Station was a HUGE layout. Clara and James couldn't get enough. Ballerina girl and Santa Fe boys! James was in "hog-heaven"!Off to Jack Stack's for BBQ. The only way we could get James to eat his french fries was to pretend it was a train. He loved that.We also went to the American Girl store and a few other places. We forgot how much fun Kansas City is, especially during Christmastime.

November 5, 2011 - Fall Family Pictures

Once cold, blustery Saturday morning in November, I woke my sweet, little family up, fed them a wonderful breakfast of Captain Crunch, got them all dressed up, and drug them to Botanica Garden.
This is our Fall 2011 session.
This is my favorite picture of Dale and the kids. I saw this idea on-line.
I took this picture without Abbie as a test shot. It turned out pretty good.My sweet, cold children.I love James' face! It's Classic! Here's the "best" shot with me and the kids. I Love how Clara is holding onto Abbie's head.
Happy Fall, Y'All!
